Most Americans won’t have a clue, they hardly can tell where the UK or Canada is although they’re their main trading partners; as for Europeans and some Asians they’ll know it’s in Africa and that’s pretty much it. Speaking with foreigners, local Ugandans and people involved in tourism in Kampala they’ll all tell you that Uganda is the best kept secret.

Nigeria: Media Inevitable in Democracy - Gov Sheriff

Governor Ali Sheriff of Borno State has said the entrenchment and continued sustenance of democracy in a federated system of government can only be achieved through the media by reporting "objectively and fairly" on good governance, transparency and accountability to the people that voted public office holders into office.

Nigeria: Declares Camp 'No-Go Area'

Nigeria's Durban camp will be a 'no-go area' for media and fans alike as the team prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations. Contrary to earlier reports, the team will camp at the Riverside Hotel in Durban, according to Media Coordinator Idah Peterside.

Mortar shells destroyed the Radio Voice of Democracy building this morning in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, killing Amal Abukar, 22, the wife of the director of the station, Abdirahman Yasin. Abukar died instantly after three mortar shells landed on the station's building in northern Mogadishu at 10:30 a.m., local journalists told CPJ. Yasin and a producer, Adam Hussein, were injured in the attack.
